Ex-MP dies over dowry allegation
July 20: The ex-MP of Nalgonda, Mr Akarapu Sudarshan, accused of dowry harassment collapsed while watching on television the footage of his daughter-in-law making allegations against him on a local news channel on Wednesday.
He was then rushed to a corporate hospital where he died while undergoing treatment. According to the Cyberabad women police, Ms Sudha, who was married to A. Ramesh in 2009, approached the Cyberabad women police on Monday and lodged a complaint against Ramesh, alleging that he along with his parents and six other family members, were harassing her for additional dowry, adding that her parents had given Rs 3 lakh in dowry at the time of her marriage. The police arrested Ramesh but not her in-laws for lack of evidence. On Wednesday, Sudha accused Ramesh’s parents of harassment on a local TV news channel. Watching the incident on television, a dejected Sudarshan collapsed and later died.
